<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a soft magnetic alloy that contains fine nano-scale crystal grains, has a high saturation magnetic flux density and is excellent in soft magnetic properties, especially excellent in alternating-current magnetic properties, and the soft magnetic alloy. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the soft magnetic alloy comprises a step of rapidly cooling molten alloy containing Fe and a metalloid element to produce an Fe alloy having such a structure that crystal grains having an average grain size of ≤20 nm are dispersed in an amorphous parent phase with an average distance between crystal grains of ≤50 nm, and a step of heating the Fe alloy for a heat-treatment to obtain such a structure that crystal grains with a body-centered cubic structure and an average grain size of ≤60 nm are dispersed in the amorphous parent phase at a volume fraction of ≥30%.
