摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a speed when compression processing is applied to attribute data, to reduce the ratio of the occupancy of the attribute data in the memory, and to suppress the compression rate of raster data to the utmost, by applying data replacement to the attribute data so as to reduce the amount of information thereof to the utmost, in image data composed of the raster data and the attribute data. <P>SOLUTION: An image compression method is realized by forming an image in such a way that page data acquired by compressing and encoding the image, and that attribute information are retained in the limited memory, and by compressing the attribute data indicating the attribute information of each pixel in a printing system. After rendering (S4003), reversible compression is applied to the attribute data (S4004), and replacement processing (recompression) is applied to the attribute data in a compressed state, so that a bit row constituting the attribute data can be reduced.
