ANTISENSE OLIGONUCLEOTIDE FOR SPLICING CONTROL OF MYOSTATIN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antisense oligonucleotide capable of expressing a myostatin protein capable of preventing muscle atrophy and/or enhancing the development of the muscle while maintaining a part of the myostatin protein; and to provide a medicament for preventing and/or treating muscle atrophy using the antisense oligonucleotide as an active ingredient.

SOLUTION: The antisense oligonucleotide has a function for skipping exon 2 in the biosynthesis of a matured mRNA from an mRNA precursor transcribed from a myostatin gene by splicing in a myostatin protein synthetic system. The medicament for preventing and/or treating the muscle atrophy using the antisense oligonucleotide as an active ingredient is also provided.
