PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a marking method for an animal and a plant capable of dispensing with separation of a marker, and capable of attaining highly precise traceability. SOLUTION: A label for the habitat, variety or the like applied to the animal or the plant of a marking object is encoded by combination of marker elements and an introduction amount of the each maker element (on condition within a range of introduction amount safe for the human body), using the plurality of inorganic elements safe for the human body as the marker elements, a matter such as a feed and a culture solution mixed with the each marker element is fed to the animal or the plant of the marking object, in response to the introduction amount of the each encoded maker element, to be reared. The each marker element is detected from the produced animal or the plant, and the label applied to the animal or the plant is decoded by the introduction amount of the each detected maker element to obtain the label of the habitat, the variety or the like.
