PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for aging slag where steelmaking slag being discharged from a steel converter, an electric furnace and the like and containing free lime and free magnesium oxide is artificially swelled for a short time using steam and in an industrial scale and can be applied to a subbase material for road, an aggregate for an ocean block and the like. SOLUTION: The method for aging the steelmaking slag is that the steelmaking slag pulverized to be a particle diameter of 40 mm or less of 80% or more is charged in a pressure vessel, pressurized steam is supplied in the sealed pressure vessel, temperature and pressure in the pressure vessel are increased while discharging hot water condensed by heating the pressure vessel and the steelmaking slag, the pressure in the pressure vessel is reduced to atmospheric pressure after keeping it at a saturated steam atmosphere of 2-10 kg/cm<SP>2</SP>G for 5 hours or more while an operation to lower the pressure in the pressure vessel to 50% or less of the pressure before temporarily reducing is performed once or more times and the steelmaking slag is discharged, piled outdoor and exposed in natural climate.
