PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning method and a cleaning agent for ultrasonic cleaning efficiently removing organic substances using a safe cleaning solution using no environmentally affecting substance, and removing organic substances from a cleaning object without discoloring nor damaging the cleaning object. SOLUTION: By bringing the cleaning object into contact with an aqueous electrolyte solution and applying ultrasonic wave to the object, organic substances are removed from the cleaning object. The aqueous electrolyte solution consists of an inorganic salt aqueous solution or a boric acid aqueous solution having an ionic strength of 0.0025-1.0 mol/l, and a dissolved oxygen concentration of 4mg/l to a saturated concentration.
