<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely discriminate whether an abnormal shadow candidate area in a tomogram of the head is truly an abnormal shadow or a normal shadow similar to the abnormal shadow. <P>SOLUTION: This medical image processor 10 extracts one lacunar shadow candidate area which becomes an object of discrimination from an input head image, calculates four featured values of the sizes, circularity, contrast and a section of the extracted lacunar shadow candidate area, inputs the featured values to a linear discrimination function F2, and discriminates whether the lacunar shadow candidate area is truly the abnormal shadow (lacunar infarct shadow) or the normal shadow (expansion of a cavity surrounding a blood vessel) by discrimination analysis.
