摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative-electrode active substance for a lithium-ion secondary battery having a high capacity and excellent cycle performance. <P>SOLUTION: A method for producing silicon oxide includes (a) a process for forming a silicon oxide layer on a substrate by passing silicon atoms through an oxygen atmosphere and supplying the silicon atoms onto the substrate, and (b) a process for obtaining silicon oxide containing silicon and oxygen in a prescribed ratio by separating the silicon oxide layer from the substrate and pulverizing the oxide layer.
