<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of obtaining an image of high quality at low cost with simple constitution by preventing a shift in image writing position during double-sided image formation. <P>SOLUTION: A control mechanism 51 acquires information of a specified paper feed stage (S1), and reads a correction value for first-sided image formation out of a storage mechanism and sets the correction value (S2). When printing does not correspond to a second side, an advance to S5 is made and a writing mechanism 53 is controlled, based upon the set correction value to perform image forming operation. When the printing corresponds to a second side of both-sided printing, an advance from S3 to S4 is made after the information of the paper feed mechanism is acquired in S1 and S2 and the correction value for the first-sided image formation is set to read a correction value of the paper feed mechanism for second-sided image formation acquired in S1 out of the storage mechanism 52 and then set the correction value. Namely, the correction value (δ3 or δ4) for the second-sided image formation is added to the correction value for the first-sided image formation.
