PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a plasma display panel capable of appropriately forming an excellent crystalline MgO protective layer. SOLUTION: In a formation process of the crystalline MgO protective layer 34, printing paste containing a single crystal MgO 34A is applied to a dielectric layer 33 by using a screen printing method and baked at a temperature above a strain point of the dielectric layer 33. Thereby, the dielectric layer 33 starts to melt by baking at the temperature above the strain point and the lower side of the single crystal MgO 34A included in the printing paste is embedded in the dielectric layer 33. When cooled, the dielectric layer 33 is hardened and the crystalline MgO protective layer 34 is formed by the single crystal MgO 34A partially embedded in the dielectric layer 33.
