PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel cam angle sensor mounting structure for an internal combustion engine, capable of compatibly attaining the reduced weight/cost of a head cover formed of a synthetic resin and the improved assembling position accuracy of a cam angle sensor. SOLUTION: On a cylinder head 10 of the internal combustion engine, a head cover 12 is mounted to cover an upper face opening 11 of the cylinder head 10. Then, on an upper wall portion 18 of the head cover 12, the cam angle sensor 22 is assembled for detecting the rotating angle of a cam shaft 19. Furthermore, the cam angle sensor 22 is firmly fixed directly to the cylinder head 10 with a fixing body 30 passing through the upper wall portion 18 of the head cover 12.
