摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transflective liquid crystal display device having a single cell gap structure and a high opening ratio. <P>SOLUTION: The display device includes: a first substrate 30 and a second substrate 40 where reflective regions and transmissive regions are arranged opposite to each other, and which demarcating reflective regions and transmissive regions in a single gap structure between the substrates; an opposite direction reflector 32 which is disposed in the reflective region of the first substrate 30 and reflects light to the adjacent transmissive regions; a color filter 33 formed on the whole inner surface of the first substrate 30; transparent electrodes 34 formed on a portion of the color filter in the transmissive regions; a lower polarizing plate 35 attached on an outer surface of the first substrate 30; common electrodes 42 formed in the transmissive regions on the inner surface of the second substrate 40; an upper polarizing plate 43 attached on the outer surface of the second substrate 40; and a liquid crystal layer 50 interposed between the first substrate 30 and the second substrate 40, wherein the liquid crystal layer 50 corresponding to the reflective region functions as a fixing retardation area in which introduced light is always subjected to a constant phase difference. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
