PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To significantly reduce man-hour for NC path generation by automatically generating an NC path. SOLUTION: A computer is used to achieve classification of machining surfaces based on functions required for respective machining surfaces of a metallic mold, further classification of the machining surfaces based on slant shapes of the machining surfaces, and derivation of a tool for actual use in cutting and a machining trajectory by associating the classification results with the tool usable for machining. The classifications are automated, the classification results are associated with tool selection, and thereby an NC path is allowed to be quickly specified. Thus, the types and locations of NC path to generate can be automatically determined from information on a three dimensional model of a metallic mold shape, and, in certain cases, from information on a three dimensional model of a component part constituting a product.
