PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin composition for an optical part which has an extremely small optical axis deviation and excellent mechanical strength, moldability (low mold corrosiveness and smell) and an optical part. SOLUTION: The resin composition for an optical part is obtained by mixing 100 parts by mass of a polyarylene sulfide with 150-450 parts by mass of calcium carbonate, 100-400 parts by mass of glass fiber and 0.02-10 parts by mass at least one kind selected from a basic metal silicate which is obtained by heating calcium hydroxide or magnesium hydroxide and amorphous silicic acid in water and is represented by general formula (1) MO-nSiO<SB>2</SB>and a basic metal silicate which is obtained by heating calcium hydroxide or magnesium hydroxide and amorphous silicic acid in water and represented by general formula (2) sM<SP>1</SP>O-tM<SP>2</SP>O-mSiO<SB>2</SB>.
