PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of suppressing wear of a photoreceptor drum, while surely preventing a white-dot image from being produced, by controlling the value of the current flowing to a charging member in specified timing, regardless of whether a main switch of the image forming apparatus is on or off. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus, which forms an image, by electrostatically charging the surface of an image carrier by a rotating member for electrostatic charging which rotates in contact with the surface of the image carrier, is equipped with a current-value control means (CPU 100) of controlling the value of the current fed to the rotating member for electrostatic charging (charge roll 16), according to the lapse of time after an image forming operation start signal for forming an image on the image carrier is output.
