METHOD OF DRIVING PLASMA DISPLAY PANEL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of driving a panel which suppresses wrong illumination and has good image display quality even when the panel has high luminance and high definition. SOLUTION: The method includes a plurality of discharge cells each having a display electrode pair comprising a scanning electrode and a sustain electrode. A sustain pulse generation part is provided which divides a one-field period into a plurality of sub-fields each having a write period and a sustain period and applies a sustain pulse to a display electrode pair in a sustain period to generate the sustain discharge of a discharge cell. The sustain pulse generation part applies a voltage lower than a voltage generating a starting sustain discharge in the sustain period to the display electrode pair before applying the voltage generating the starting sustain discharge to the display electrode pair.
