PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease power consumption during the printing operation of a printer by operating each circuit block inside the printer at the lowest basic clock frequency in a range in which a hindrance is not caused to the printing processing of the inkjet printer. SOLUTION: In this power management control method, clock control circuits 15 and 28 make the basic clock frequency of each circuit block dynamically variable during the operation of the printer, and enable the basic clock frequency to be changed to the lowest one in the range in which the hindrance is not caused to the printing processing (in which the printing processing can be performed without stopping a carriage), so that the power consumption during the operation of the printer is decreased.
