PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tension bending method capable of stabilizing cross-section dimensions of a connection part of a shaped article in order to eliminate a step at a joining portion between shaped article and unshaped article of an escalator ballast, and an apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: In the tension bending, bending curvature is provided to a long article with a different cross-section to be shaped while loading tension force thereto. In this case, before forming the bending curvature, stretch strain of 1% is applied in the longitudinal direction. The tension force loaded when applying the stretch strain is used as a tension force to be load in bending, and bending is performed while constantly keeping the tension force, thereby forming the bending curvature.
