METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING HIGH-STRENGTH WASHER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-strength washer which can suppress scuffing and seizure in bolts and nuts made of stainless steel. SOLUTION: A steel sheet made of austenitic stainless steel is used as a blank material for manufacturing plain washers to be used together with bolts and nuts made of stainless steel. The steel sheet is cold-rolled at a rolling rate selected from the range of such a rolling rate that the thickness of the steel sheet after rolling becomes 6% to 14% of the outside diameter of the washer and the hardness of the steel sheet after rolling becomes a Vickers hardness Hv of 200 to 400.
