The invention relates to a torque converter (102) comprising a pump clutch (118) which is functionally disposed so as to transmit an input torque impinging the torque converter to a pump (122), and a torque converter clutch (120) that is functionally arranged so as to transmit the input torque to an output shaft (128) of the torque converter. The pump clutch is positioned such that the input torque continues to be transmitted to the pump when the input torque is connected to the shaft. The inventive torque converter further comprises at least one vibration damping means (106) which is functionally connected to the input torque while being placed in the torque converter such that the input torque is transmitted by the at least one vibration damping means when the vibration damping means is coupled to the pump. The invention also relates to a torque transmitting device encompassing a torque converter (505), a first drive shaft (502) for a manual transmission having two inputs, and a means (521) for coupling the torque converter to the drive shaft.
