Method for controlling a gear change in a manual transmission gearbox in which during a first phase (t2-t2b) of matching the clutch torque and speed to that of a transmission shaft, the engine torque is maintained constant, while in a second phase (t2b-t3) the driving torque of the engine is increased with a delay after the beginning (t2) of the clutch engagement. An independent claim is made for a vehicle drive system.
