<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the accuracy and speed of a prescribed subject detection coping with multiple face directions. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for detecting from an image a particular subject comprises an image input means and a tree structure detector. The tree structure detector discriminates the image input from the image input means. A root node covers subject subspaces of all views of a subject to be branched, a child node branched from the root node covers the subject subspaces corresponding to at least one views of the subject, and each of the root node and the child node contains a plurality of weak discriminates and collects the output of each weak discriminator for each of the divided subject subspace to judge to which child node in the adjacent lower layer the image should be shifted. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
