PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double eye photographing apparatus wherein a plurality of solid-state imaging elements include a plurality of photographing optical systems for forming object images, and the photographing optical systems forms object images to the solid-state imaging elements which generate image data so that each imaging region includes at least one and same object in common, that improves the processing capability of operations of an automatic system typified by the AF, the AE and the face recognition AF so as to attain high speed processing. SOLUTION: A control section makes the photographing apparatus execute at least one of a detection operation of a particular object of an optional area in an image, a focal point adjustment operation, and an exposure adjustment operation carried out on the basis of image data denoting an object image formed in one of the solid-state imaging elements; and of generation of image data representing an object image formed to at least one of the solid-state imaging elements except the one solid-state imaging element above in cross reference with conditions of the control of the operations temporally at the same time.
