PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of a range switching device, which surely sets a request range to an automatic transmission 12 by moving a spool 7 to a correct stop position of the request range and by stopping it when a driver operates a shift switch and switches the request range. SOLUTION: The spool 7 is latched at a stop position of each range by a detent mechanism 9. A range shift control part 3 starts a motor 4 and moves the spool 7 for braking the motor 4 at a braking position predetermined according to a range before switching and the request range and remaining movement is left for the detent mechanism 9. When the position where the spool 7 stopped is out of the correct stop position of the request range, the range shift control part 3 sets a correction braking position between the position where the spool 7 stopped, and the correct stop position, starts the motor 4, and brakes the motor 4 when reaching the correction braking position.
