PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a balance device diagnosis method for an elevator capable of diagnosing a balance device securely and properly by improving work efficiency of a worker in charge of maintenance. SOLUTION: This balance device diagnosis method comprises a step for detecting the absence of a passenger in a car of the elevator, a step for stopping the car at a predetermined story, a step for measuring weight of the car in a no-load condition after the car stops by the balance device, a step for determining whether weight of the car in the no-load condition measured by the balance device is normal or not, a step for moving the car at predetermined fixed acceleration when it is determined that weight of the car in the no-load condition is normal, a step for measuring weight of the car by the balance device during moving of the car at the predetermined fixed acceleration, and a step for determining whether weight of the car during fixed acceleration measured by the balance device is normal or not.
