The invention relates to a new combination of materials presented in a sandwich-type structure for the construction of a lightweight platform exhibiting excellent constructional features. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method aiming at producing the foregoing composite construction for obtaining a platform highly resisting even to point loads. In the present invention there is utilized, for the first time, a combination of external metal sheets and internal lightweight foam (foam of thermoplastic or thermally hardened polymer). For the protection of the side surfaces of the foam and the restriction of the furrowing of the metal sheets, the ends of these last are folded so that the upper and lower layer may quasi completely enclosethe foamed interior core. These materials are mutually glued with epoxy glue or strong glue of low viscosity for good wetting of the common surfaces under sub-pressure conditions. |
