New apparatus and methods usable with ladders, particularly roof ladders, are described. One aspect is a detachable anchorage device comprising a metal channel piece (10) having an inwardly-projecting lug (13) with a connection hole (17) for a safety line, and a securing pin (16) which projects into the open end of a ladder rung (42) to hold the device releasably in position. Such a device is useful in roof access operations, which involve anchoring a worker to the ladder itself, with an adjustable-length line, rather than to separate structures. |
