1. An image forming apparatus comprising:
a power supply to generate power for the image forming apparatus; an external device interface unit to connect an external device to the image forming apparatus; a driving unit to generate power, by using first power supplied from the power supply or second power supplied from the external device via the external device interface unit; and a control unit which is driven by the generated power and which generates information about a power-supply state of the image forming apparatus based on whether the first power is supplied or whether the second power is supplied, wherein the driving unit generates the power for the control unit by using the second power, if supply of the first power is obstructed.
