The invention relates to the branch of magnetic hydrodynamics of continuous media, in particular, to the method of electromagnetic mixing of liquid metal by the system of rotating magnetic fields in the crystallizer or tank. A method of electromagnetic mixing of liquid metal by the system of rotating magnetic fields in the crystallizer or tank consists in imposition of two or more rotating magnetic fields, which have opposite or identical directions of motion around axis of crystallizer or tank with liquid metal, in this case said fields have identical frequency and are created by windings with different number of pole pairs. The invention provides for control of azimuth motion of liquid-metal phase of continuously cast billet by its braking or acceleration.
