An uninterruptible electric lamp, light bulb, tube or light-emitter, 1, incorporates a sensing device or series of sensing devices, 5, within or external to it that detects an interruption to or failure of the main electricity supply (grid or self-generated supply) to that lamp and consequentially activates said lamp or a separate light source or sources, 6, within or externally adjacent to said lamp during the time the main electricity supply is inoperative from an independent electric power source and supply, 4, within or adjacent to said lamp and which can be controlled by the external switch, 7, fitted for the control of the main electricity to that lamp. Sensing device, 5, can detect three separate states, mains power present, open circuit, or a resistance between the mains supply lines. A resistance between the mains supply lines indicates a power failure in a condition where the lamp is in a switched on state, and therefore the independent power source is used to illuminate the lamp. |
