PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire rope capable of maintaining a required strength with a high steel material cross-sectional density though the rope is flexible with a fine rope diameter and the weight is reduced and realizing good frictional contact with a sheave while maintaining required fatigue properties even when the sheave diameter is reduced and maintaining the body or surrounding environment clean without requiring coating or replenishment of an oil and suitable as a running wire for cargo machines represented by elevator uses and crane uses. SOLUTION: This wire rope is composed of a covered core schenkel and side strands using high-strength steel wires and is obtained by arranging and laying a plurality of side strands around the core strand composed by laying wires, covering the outer periphery thereof with a high polymer, providing the one covered core schenkel, arranging a plurality of side wires around each core part prepared by laying wires, laying the side wires into multiple layers, arranging and laying a plurality of the side strands having a relatively smaller outside diameter than that of the covered core schenkel around the one covered core schenkel and externally finishing and covering the whole comprising the side strands with a high polymer. |
