The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for transmitting an ultra high definition television (UHDTV) broadcasting signal, capable of efficiently performing a UHDTV broadcasting service by distributing three UHDTV broadcasting services into spare bandwidths of two terrestrial channels to transmit the distributed three UHDTV broadcasting services over the spare bandwidths, in terrestrial transmission of UHDTV broadcasting signals. The apparatus comprises: an encoding unit to encode inputted UHD broadcasting data with respect to each of different three broadcasting programs; a data processing unit to separate and allocate the encoded three UHD broadcasting data to two channels; and a transmission unit to modulate the three UHD broadcasting data allocated to the two channels and transmit the data over corresponding channels, respectively.
