The proposed linear temperature sensitive element can be used in devices designed for detecting inflammation of electric cables. The temperature sensitive element contains a casing made of thermocontractable material, two electrodes, and a resistor. The electrodes are connected to each other via theresistor. One of the electrodes contains a cover made of low-melting alloy. The electrodes are installed in the casing by using insulating inserts that fit the corresponding opening in the casing. The gap between the inserts is filled with thermocontractable material. One or both the electrodes are designed as corrugated rods. The advantages of the said temperature sensitive element are extended temperature range, protection against water, dust, and other contaminants, as well as a possibility to monitor the state of the element.
