The invention relates to the rolling production and can be used at production of roll thin hot-rolled strip. In the method of the production of thin strip on the hot mills the rolling of strip is accomplished in rough and finishing groups of stands and its winding, the tension of strip after windingof several turns is created and the subsequent winding of strip at the rate of rolling is achieved. In accordance with the invention, at rolling in finishing stands the section of front end of the strip of a length equal to the length of the circumference of the drum of winding device, is formed with variable longitudinal variation in thickness, which smoothly increases to the middle of said section, in this case at the beginning of section the thickness of strip is less, equal or more than nominal thickness, in the middle - it is more than the thickness of strip at the beginning of section, for the value of nominal thickness of strip, at the end of the section - it is equal to nominal thickness; moreover, the length of section along the strip with the thickness greater than initial thickness and is not decreased in the absolute value notless than by the pitch of forming rolls. The invention ensures the increase of productivity of stand at simultaneous guarantee of reliability of operation of the mechanisms of winding device.
