A compound represented by formula (1):wherein, in formula (1), R1 and R2 are independently alkyl having 1 to 15 carbons, and in the alkyl, at least one of —CH2— may be replaced by —O— or —S—, and at least one of —(CH2)2— may be replaced by —CH═CH—; ring A1, ring A2 and ring A3 are independently 1,4-cyclohexylene, 1,4-phenylene, 1,4-phenylene in which at least one of hydrogen is replaced by halogen, tetrahydropyran-2,5-diyl, or tetrahydropyran-2,5-diyl in which at least one of hydrogen is replaced by halogen, and in the rings, at least one of —(CH2)2— may be replaced by —CH═CH—, and at least one of ring A1, ring A2 and ring A3 is represented by formula (A):wherein, X1 and X2 are independently hydrogen or halogen; and Z1, Z2 and Z3 are independently a single bond, —(CH2)2—, —CH═CH—, —C≡C—, —COO—, —OCO—, —CH2O—, —OCH2—, —CF2O—, —OCF2— or —CF═CF—, wherein, in the case where both X1 and X2 are fluorine when ring A1 is represented by formula (A), Z1 is —(CH2)2—, —CH═CH—, —CH2O— or —OCH2—; anda, b and c are independently 0 or 1, and a sum of a, b and c is 1, 2 or 3.
