An independent claim is also included for the preform for drawing a microstructured optical fiber into a drawing device, in which a preform end is heated and the optical fiber is removed from the heated preform end, comprising a core area (2) and several substructure elements (3), which extend along the preform. The substructure elements are arranged helically around the longitudinal axis of the core area, where the pattern, which is viewed in cross-section of the preform, forming the cross-section of the substructure elements, is respectively same as the rotation caused at the helical arrangement of the substructure elements. |
