COMMON CONTROL CHANNEL UPLINK POWER CONTROL FOR ADAPTIVE MODULATION AND CODING TECHNIQUE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize interference introduced by an uplink common control channel.SOLUTION: In a method and system using a wireless digital code-division multiple access technology, adaptive modulation and coding is utilized in order to achieve improved radio resource utilization and provide increased data transfer rates for user services in which the base station measures up link interference on all time slots received from user equipment UE and determines a need for uplink control channel. The base station transmits to the UE the allocation of specific uplink control channels indicating uplink interference in the time slot and potentially a quality margin. The UE determines an appropriate uplink power level on the basis of a path loss determination made by the UE, uplink interference, and the quality margin arbitrarily selected. The UE then initiates uplink communication in response to the determinations.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
