A tool is provided for assistance in removing and installing tires on wheel rims. The tool is provided with a handle (4) having a tool head (2;20) disposed at each end. Each tool head (2;20) is designed to fit between a tire bead (14) and an associated wheel rim (12) so that when the handle (4) is levered, a force is applied to the bead and rim that moves the bead over the rim. Each tool head (2;20) has a substantially flat portion which can be easily fit between opposing tire and wheel rim surfaces- One tool head (20) has a slightly hooked distal tip to enable axial engagement with a flange (10) of the wheel rim (12), and thus can be used either for installing a tire on a rim or for removing a tire from the rim. Another tool head (2) has a roller member (38) near the tool midpoint to engage a flange (10) of the wheel rim (12), the roller member (38) having a pin (40) axis perpendicular to an axis of the tool handle (4).
