<p>A method and system of adapting the transmission rate, with the capability of determining whether a transmission error is caused lay increased path loss, of a mobile station among a plurality of transmission rates between a plurality of stations in a wireless local area network (WLAN) are provided. In response to a transmission time out condition of a transmitted frame, a determination is made whether a transmission error associated with the time out condition was caused by increased path loss using a Received Signal Strength (RSS) value from a plurality of incoming frames received by a mobile station. If the determination is true, an RSS threshold is increased, for example, a link adaptation rate threshold, and the frame is retransmitted.</p> |
