An image acquiring unit configured to acquire, based on an input image, a plurality of resolution hierarchical images having resolutions that are different from one another; An extracting unit configured to extract a feature point in each of the plurality of resolution hierarchical images; a determining unit configured to determine a correlation among a plurality of feature points in the plurality of resolution hierarchical images using information on positions of the plurality of feature points in each resolution hierarchical image; and a selecting unit configured to select at least one processing object image to be processed with the feature point in the plurality of resolution hierarchical images, based on a determination result of the correlation, wherein at least one processor or circuit is configured to perform a function of at least one of the units.
