A display apparatus includes a display unit (70); a signal processing unit (30) which processes an image signal to be displayed on the display unit (70); a colour transforming unit (50) which adjusts a white balance of the image signal input from the signal processing unit (30) within a colour area defined by a set of adjacent colours in a colour space; and a controlling unit (90) which controls the colour transforming unit (50) to perform colour-transformation on only a white colour within the colour area of colours of the image signal in order to adjust the white balance of the image signal.
