Autoignition engine with combustion chambers for high pressure ignition

The engine has a combustion chamber (1) with a control and operating module. A cylinder bore is disposed in a crankcase (5) of the engine. A separate cooled plate is formed between the chamber and a cylinder head (14). The plate is connected with the crank case and a cylinder liner in a form-fit and gas tight manner. A valve seat for inlet and outlet valves is arranged in the plate and an injection valve extends through the plate.
