In order to suppress parasitic oscillations in tunnel diode circuits a parallel combination of an inductive element and a resistor are connected in series with the tunnel diode, the parallel combination having a negligibly small impedance at an operating frequency of an electrical circuit connected to the tunnel diode and the resistor having-a resistance sufficient to prevent parasitic oscillation at a frequency determined by the equivalent circuit constants of the tunnel diode and the inductive element and resistor parallel unit. The equivalent circuit of a tunnel diode has a frequency dependent characteristic due to its own barrier capacity, diffusion resistance and an inductive property associated with the lead wires such that any circuit using a tunnel diode has a parasitic oscillation of relatively high frequency. As shown in Fig. 4, the parasitic oscillations in an amplifying circuit using a tunnel diode T.D. are suppressed by connecting the parallel combination of a resistance Rx and an inductance Lx in series with the diode T.D. The value of the inductance element Lx is so selected that its impedance may be neglected with respect to the electrical circuit M at the operating frequency of the circuit as a whole while being large compared to the inductance of the equivalent circuit of the diode. With the inclusion of the element Lx the parasitic oscillation frequency is lowered and can then be effectively stopped by resistance Rx. The invention may be applied to oscillators, frequency converters or amplitude limiters.
