PROCESS FOR ETHYLBENZENE PRODUCTION

A process is disclosed for producing ethylbenzene from the catalytic alkylation of benzene in a multibed reactor wherein the lighter fractions of the normal overhead polyethylbenzene recycle stream are removed in a distillation column and discarded in order to increase EB conversion rates and lower xylene by-product production.
