<p>Microparticles of 1-1000 microns comprises at least polyethylene oxide and an active agent, where the amount of polyethylene oxide is greater than or equal to 20% weight of the microparticle. Independent claims are: (1) a method of preparing microparticles comprises preparing a solution of an emulsifying agent in an oil component (external phase); preparation of a POE solution in an organic solvent to form emulsion with the oil phase (phase internal); if desired, incorporating into the internal phase of a pharmacologically active agent dissolved or in solid; if desired, incorporating into the internal phase of at least one additional polymer which is soluble in the solvent POE organic; forming an emulsion of organic phase in the oil phase (Org/Ole) by mixing with stirring of prepared two solutions before (internal and external phases); forming microparticle by removing the solvent; and filtering, washing and drying the microparticles obtained; and (2) microparticle coating process comprises preparing a solution of at least one coating polymer in a solvent to form emulsion with the oil phase; adding the solution on the micro-POE/drug uncoated (nuclei) and maintained in suspension in oily outer phase; and removing the solvent, washing and drying the microparticles obtained.
