A lipid cover is placed over a nutritional product and is subjected to conditions of thermal resistance that allow almost instantaneous solidification of the lipid cover such that a coating is produced. The nutritional product may optionally undergo heat treatment to eliminate the lipid cover and produce a pre-cooked layer on the nutritional product.
