<p>The shelter, basically circular in shape and at least 10m in diameter, has a supporting framework made from a series of peripheral vertical masts (1a) and a rigid horizontal ring (4) connecting each mast to its neighbour with the aim of combatting centripetal forces created when the shelter's fabric cover is deployed. Each mast is in the form of a metal trellis that is widest at the point of the ring (4) and stands on a lower foot connected to the neighbouring one by a bar. The fabric cover (7) has a series of radial reinforcing inserts equal in number to the masts, converging towards a central lifting point (6).</p> |
