The method involves identifying a control parameter of an engine, in a preset operating condition of the engine, which influences the emission of a predetermined element presented in an exhaust gas. Adjustment of the control parameter is determined in the preset operating conditions in order to reduce the dispersion concerning the emission, where the adjustment is used irrespective of the operating conditions of the engine. An independent claim is also included for a motor comprising unit to reduce dispersion concerning emission of element presented in an exhaust gas.
