PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary coated optical fiber which enables reducing splicing working time and simplifying the work. SOLUTION: The secondary coated optical fiber 1 is provided with at least one layer coating of a synthetic resin around a bare optical fiber, and when providing the coating layer 3 with a cut line therein near the fiber end and thereby removing the coating part from on the fiber by pulling out the coating part to be removed on the fiber end side from the cut line, the coating part to be removed is taken away in a form of a sheath, and has also detachability in which the removal waste surviving on the exposed surface after removal of the coating part is 10 pieces/30mm length or less without cleaning the surface.
