PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To light up an indication on a display unit integrated in a photographing apparatus through simple operation just for a required time as an operator requires. SOLUTION: When a print button 33 which is not used for photographing during a photographing mode is operated and when a button which is not used for reproduction during a reproduction mode is used, a power supply circuit 50a of a back light 31a is adjusted so that lightness of a liquid crystal display 31 may become lightness corresponding to the duration of operation of the print button 33. When the same button is operated later, the lightness of the liquid crystal display 31 is returned to the original lightness.
